Friday FREEBIE!

My allergies are ridiculous today and basically have me out of commission.  So the Friday Freebie almost didn't make it.  But none the less, here it is!
It's a domino game I made by request for a fabulous follower!  I have included domino cards with the download, but you could use real dominoes as well.  If you're aware of "chicken feet" dominoes, you could use those as well because they higher than normal dominoes.

UPDATE!  Click the picture below for the addition version of this game!  This is for any of my K-1 friends!  :)

***Both versions are in my TpT and TN stores (depending on where you like to shop)!***
Hope you and your kids enjoy!  :o)

Techie Tuesday Postponed...

My Techie Tuesday post will have to wait.  I am writing you guys to ask for help.  My students' Donors Choose project will expire this Friday.  And when I say that it's their project, it truly is.  This is something that they wanted to pursue.  They knew how fun and engaging these little gadgets were and they wanted some of their own!

I've had a few people graciously give to their project as well as myself.  They are SO close to meeting their goal!  If you would like to help out, you can visit our Donors Choose project page by clicking on the picture below:
And the great thing about Donors Choose - if my students' project isn't funded, the money donated to our project will get transferred to another project!  So the money will go to help another classroom in need!  How cool is that?!  It's a win-win situation!  :o)

Motivation Monday!

Here is a simple, yet effective book I read a little over a year ago.
Maya Angelou has a way with words, but this book just really hit me.  I truly believe that anyone can read this book and walk away feeling better...feeling more secure about yourself.  I actually loaned this book to my sister-in-law.  No matter what your circumstances are, this quick read is definitely worth it.

"Some of us are timid.  We think we have something to lose so we don't try for that next hill."

FREE Backgrounds!

Hey guys!  I've been playing around with some backgrounds and thought I'd share them with you!  You can snag them for free from my TpT store.  When I use them, I'm usually working in Word.  I insert the picture and then change the "position" so I can stretch/move it.  Once in place, I insert a "shape" on top of the background and then add text/clip art.  And you're done!

Techie Tuesday!

OMGosh!  I found an AMAZING YouTube video to help my kids understand partial products!  The video uses area to multiply two 2-digit numbers.  The presenter also uses base ten blocks in Kidspiration to give the kids a visual.  It's absolutely perfect!!!  I showed my kids this video this morning and can't wait to let them explore the concept with their own base ten blocks!  It will def be a small group, teacher led activity at first.  But I hope they'll get more comfortable with it and be able to do it on their own!

Hope this helps you and your kids as well!

Motivation Monday!

Happy Monday, y'all!  Today's post is near and dear to my heart.  I want to share a quote with you that helped me through one of the toughest decisions of my life.

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."  MLK, Jr.
This quote is in the signature of all my email accounts.  It's in the back of my mind at all times.  It helped me realize that if I take certain risks, I can reach higher goals and aspirations.

I hope this quote can help motivate at least one person to take one risk.  Step out of your comfort zone.  Try something new, something different.  You never know how awesome and rewarding something could be until you try...

Friday Freebie!

Happy Friday, everyone!!!  I had a 4-day week, so Friday came really fast!  :)  We've been learning about area and perimeter this past week.  We checked out a couple BrainPop videos, did some activities with color tiles, and completed an activity from our workbook.  But I wanted to give the kids more hands-on practice!  So I created this center.

It has 10 different shapes that the students will solve for both the area and the perimeter.  There's also a recording sheet for the kids and an answer key for you!  Click the picture below to snag it!

Techie Tuesday!

Tonight's technology spotlight is on a cool little gadget that my kids love!
They're called Math Sharks!  We were able to borrow a few from our school's parent center for a little while, but couldn't be hogs with them.  :)  The kids are able to practice anything from addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.  It's also in the game format they love!  They loved them so much that we created a Donor's Choose project to get our own Math Sharks!  If you ever get the chance to try them out...GO FOR IT!

Motivation Monday!

Happy Monday!  Hopefully everyone's week has started off on a good note.  I want to start a new weekly installment called "Motivation Monday."  I simply want to highlight quotes and resources that keep myself and my students motivated.

The first one I'd like to share is something I found on Pinterest:
Make sure you're following YOUR dream and not someone else's.  Your dream may cause you to go your own way...alone.  Take that risk.  Dream big!
