Classroom Resources from Frosted Flakes?!

That's right!  I'm chowing down on my bowl of Frosted Flakes this morning and this is what I see:
How sweet is this?!  They're color photos of different USA Olympic athletes!  It mentions their name, their sport, and a fact about them.  But wait (I feel like one of those infomercials!), it gets better!  We'll double your order if you call in the next 10 minutes!!!

Ok, I'm totally kidding and got a little carried away.  :)  Seriously, on the inside of the cereal box (the back of the cards) it gives the "How I Got Started" story from each athlete.  I'm going to cut them out and laminate them.  I can't wait to take these to school and share them with my students!  I may even turn this into one of my writing centers and have them do more research on each athlete.  And it was all for less than $4.00!

Are there any other places where you've seen Olympics activities you could bring into the classroom?  I'd be down with buying more cereal (or whatever) to snag more awesome tidbits like these cards!

  1. Love it, thanks for sharing. One more reason why Frosted Flakes are GRR-eat!

  2. I'm doing an Olympic-themed classroom this year, so this would be an awesome "Get To Know You" first few days of school assignment. Maybe I'll have them make their own little card!

Another fun Olympic-themed activity: My coworker had her kids write their goal on a "flame" and color it orange/red/yellow. They then put all of the finished flames in a glass vase and made an Olympic torch of their goals for summer school! She had it on display in the classroom. Thought it was a super cute idea that I might steal for the fall. :)
