Motivation Monday: First Day Back

Oh, summer.  Where did you go???

Today was my first day back at school for preplanning.  :(  I was so sad to leave my sweet doggie and comfortable couch to go back.  So this quote went perfectly went my mood:
I can't stop school from starting back, but I can jump in my classroom and get things going.  I hope all of you have the best of luck in starting this new school year.

When do you go back for preplanning?

  1. our first "official" (aka paid) day back is August 20th... but I'm sure I'll be at school a lot in August to get things ready... I've already gone in a few times to work on copies and stuff... it always seems like the week before school starts is busy with meetings, so I am hoping to have most of my stuff ready before the 20th so I don't have so many late nights the week before school starts (our first day is August 27th)... Even though it's 4 weeks away, I'm sure it will be here waaaaay too soon :)

  2. My first official day is Aug. 27th, but we have a Technology meeting on the 20th, and I am in charge of checking in and distributing the new texts for the school. I have been back most of last week to get the gardens set up, and I started rearranging my rooms. I have two because of a linked classroom of second and third graders. I am working hard to make the room different for my third graders who I had last year as second graders. So those are a lot of words basically saying, "I'm Back!"

  3. I love your positive, sunny attitude Dana!! I don't go back until Aug. 28th, but we didn't get out until the end of June. Best of luck with everything--I know you will do nothing short of incredible work with your students this year!

  5. Teachers come back August 13th and 20th for students. I have been working in my room like CRAZY for the past couple of weeks to get ready. It has been a busy summer. I want to have everything ready ASAP since I have graduate classes starting on the 15th. Have fun getting everything ready! I know that I always do ;)

  7. Michigan passed a law a couple of years ago that doesn't allow us to start school until after Labor Day. All of the professional development and pre-planning days are done the last week of August. Good luck to all of you making the transition back into the classroom already!

  8. Wow! We don't start back until August 27th for preplanning, then school starts on September 4th. I am going back on Wednesday to begin setting up though. I had to move rooms so I want to start getting things in order and I need to move stuff out of my garage before we move houses in two weeks!

I can't wait to see pics of your classroom!

  12. That's my new favorite quote, especially since I just learned how to actually surf. We go back the 27th and the kids come back on the 29th. Enjoying summer until then!
