We made it! We wrapped up the CRCT today! In celebration of this joyous occasion, we're having donuts (thanks to an awesome parent!), a couple of cookies, and some extra recess time. :)
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday! Have a great weekend!

Transition Words
Here's a poster I created to help my kids with transition words. Just a gentle reminder to help their audience and use these words throughout their own stories. :)

Pronouns
Whew! Two days down, three more to go! For some reason, walking around and monitoring while my kids take the CRCT takes it out of me. Hope the kids can hang in there until Friday.
Anywho...I found another idea to go along with the LA posters. Pronouns! Holy moly. Who knew it would be that difficult to categorize and explain pronouns?! I made a poster to help my kids remember the different categories and how to distinguish between the three groups. I can't display it until we're through with testing, but it will be a helpful resource for the rest of the year.

Declaration of Human Rights
My kids and I have discussed and explored so many awesome historical figures. They are people like Thurgood Marshall and Susan B. Anthony who worked diligently to fight for civil rights and equality. While looking through one of the books the kids spotted a page called "The Declaration of Human Rights." They got really excited about it! They really have taken so many of our conversations and activities to heart. They asked me if we could make a copy of it and post it in our room. I explained that I couldn't copy it, but I could definitely adapt it and make it work for us. So with help from the kids, here's what we came up with...

"Give Me Five" poster
The counselor at our school uses the phrase "Give me five." I had never heard this before. It's such an easy way to get the kids' attention. Since our counselor goes into each classroom and teaches Guidance lessons, any student you say this to knows what you mean. :) But just as a reminder for the kiddies (new and old), I made this poster.

Language Arts Posters
My kids and I are reviewing LA skills from earlier in the year (we're taking the CRCT next week). I'm just mad at myself for waiting until the end of the school year to create these! I don't mean to use it as an excuse, but it is my first year in third grade. At least I'll have them for next year.
Anyway...here are a few posters that have really helped my kids remember those pesky rules to the English language. Better late than never!

Making Connections
I have always wanted "connections" posters to help my students make connections while reading. So I sat down and made my own. :) Here are the posters I created. Snag 'em if you need 'em!

Recycling
My kids are very conscious of cutting down on waste, recycling, and taking care of our Earth. Our school actually collects paper to be recycled, but it's limited. They don't accept anything thicker than a sheet of paper (so no construction paper scraps, no cardboard, no cardstock...). So I'm going to beef up our recycling system. I'm going to start recycling all paper products. I'm also adding another recycling bin to our room. It's for cans. Obviously not for the kids, but for Diet Dr. Peppers. :) I MUST have one, just one, to make it through each day! So I created these signs to tape on our recycling bins. Simple, yet effective.

Spring Break!
Dangit! I was so busy running around planning for the week we come back from Spring Break that I forgot to take a picture of our Visualization Stories hallway display. The kids did an AMAZING job! Pinkie promise I'll take a pic when we return to school April 11th. :) For now, it's time to kick back and watch a movie with the hubby and then pack for Vegas! Woohoo!!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend (and a fabulous Spring Break, if it applies)!
