Back to School - Reader's Workshop

Reader's Workshop is a critical component to classroom instruction.  Helping children become successful readers can be a catalyst to further learning and educational opportunies.  Having said this, I believe it is extremely important to set guidelines and expectations for Reader's Workshop.  And I'm not just talking about for the kids.  It's for the teacher as well.

I plan on discussing this with my students.  I want to hear what they think they should be doing, as well as what I'm supposed to be doing.  After hearing their ideas, I'm going to discuss some of my own thoughts.  I will record these expectations on a T-chart to be displayed in the room.  Like classroom rules, everyone should be held accountable for these expectations.  It takes the entire class working as a team to create a successful work environment.

What are some of the expectations you would include?
