Division Vocab

My kids kept getting the vocabulary of division mixed up. I don't blame 'em! Quotient is pretty easy to remember, but divisor and dividend?! Not so much. :) So we watched the BrainPop video on division again...very helpful reminder! One of the activities called for the kids to use a visual tool to identify the parts of a division problem. So I whipped up my own activity and the kids loved it!
Head over to my TpT store to check it out!

  1. One way that my students remember is that dividend is a longer word than divisor. Dividend is your larger number.... longer word, larger number... get it? That seems to help my kiddos :)

  2. Thanks, Terri! I mentioned that to the kids when we first introduced division (kind of like minute and hour hand when teaching time), but it didn't really stick. So I hope that doubling up with your way and this visual will help them remember it better. Fingers crossed!
